My oldest friend in his proudest moment30th August 2017
Watching the man who I grew up with getting married, has to be, to date, the proudest moment of my life. To be able to capture his perfect day on film was a bonus.
August 2017, Kalum was to marry the wonderful Amy in front of his family and friends at St John Lee Church in Acomb Northumberland. Just meters away from the church I could still see reminiscents of a den we had made in the farmer’s field as children. A surreal moment for me. Stood at the front of the Church was a man, a father and soon to be a husband. Kalum, the boy who we used to ‘build’ waterfalls together in the Dene, the boy I used to climb trees with and the boy I shared every spring with lambing on his farm. Nevertheless, this boy, my oldest friend, was stood tall as a man ready. Ready to commit his life to the one he loved, ready to be the ultimate father and ready to throw some pretty good shapes at the Caleigh dance later!
Kalum and Amy could not have chosen a better wedding venue than St John Lee in Acomb, a perfect setting in rural Northumberland for them to commit their lives together. Not only did the venue look beautiful but so did the bride, Amy looked stunning, a moment our videographers captured as she walks into the church. As Kalum and Amy made their vows I could not help thinking how blessed Kalum was to be marrying her, how blessed Amy was to be brought into the most incredible, wonderful & caring family, the Fergus’s and more so – how amazing it was that they had together become parents and had brought into the world the most beautiful child, Noah.
Vows made, the guests made their way out of the Church. A number of Kalum’s family (The Fergus Clan) had traveled down from Orkney, Scotland for the Wedding. And, in true Orcadian tradition, the Groom’s Father Derek brought out The Cog! The Cog is a barrel filled to the brim with Alcohol, where the Grooms Mother, Catherine, found her role in sharing it with the guests…some more than others! Thankfully, taxis were booked to get us all to the ceremony venue at Healey Barn.
Healey Barn is the most stunning of wedding venues just outside Riding Mill, in Northumberland. As shown in their Wedding Video. The Wedding venue was a perfect setting to laugh, share memories and hear speeches from those whom they love. The perfect day was finished in true Northumbrian style with guests taking part in traditional Caleigh dance…where it was discovered that the Grooms brother, Robbie, had an uncanny knack at the Dosey Doe much to the dismay of their younger sister Anna!
I am so proud that my company GetFilm was able to film Amy and Kalum’s perfect Wedding on camera. Our Wedding Videographers capture how truly they are in love with each other. My favourite part is right at the end of the wedding video where we hear Catherine’s voice, reading a poem from the Church overlayed as Kalum and Amy stand together in a wheat hand in hand.
And as the boy who grew up with Kalum, I cannot be prouder of the Man he has become, the wife he has married and the parents they are. Thank you for the perfect day.
